Hello from the Basin Library
June is going to be WILD! Our Summer Reading Program kicks off on Wednesday, June 3rd. Each
Wednesday and Friday we’ll have a story and activity starting at 11:00. Wednesday’s activity will be focused on elementary age and Friday’s will be focused on pre-school age, but all ages are welcome to both. Our theme is “Unearth a Story”, and we have big plans that highlight our incredible local environment.
The first week is all about dinosaurs. During the month, we’ll be creating steppingstones, treasure chests, fossil imprints and more! We have local Paleontologists and Archeologists who will be hosting activities. Throughout the month, we will have a reading challenge for all ages, including adults! We’ve received some new books that fit our theme to a T. Friday the 26 will be our end of the reading program party in the Basin City Park. Stop by and pick up a schedule and registration form at the Basin Library.
Our Summer Reading Program wouldn’t be possible without generous donations from our Friends of the Basin Library and the Wyoming Arts Foundation. The activities never stop at our library. Friday afternoon clubs will be active all summer. You can check out the schedule for Lego, Chess, board games, and art club on our Facebook page Big Horn County Library-Basin or our website https://www.bhcwylibrarysystem.org/.
Our Book Club will meet on June 24 at 3:00. The book this month is “A Painted House” by John Grisham.
We are closed for the federal holiday Juneteenth, (Friday the 19). It is an annual observance commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African Americans, specifically marking the day in 1865 when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached Galveston, Texas.
Here’s a list of some of our most recent new books. You can find all our books on the card catalog located on our website https://www.bhcwylibrarysystem.org/.
