Greene appointed to Food Bank of Wyoming advisory role

A Basin woman has been tapped to serve on the Food Bank of Wyoming’s Advisory Council.

Barbara Anne Greene, a reporter at the Basin Republican Rustler, will be joined by Marca Tanna Brewington of Etna, Veronica Miller of Riverton, Laura Sonderup of Cheyenne, Sarah Scott of Casper, Lisa Weigel of Guernsey, Kimber Tower of Riverton, Karen Jeanette Walters  of Ranchester and Matt Ballou of Cheyenne.

Launched in March 2025, the Advisory Council brings together leaders from across the state to help support and advance Food Bank of Wyoming’s mission, playing a vital role in improving food security for neighbors across Wyoming. 

As Food Bank of Wyoming continues to address the highest level of food insecurity in over 10 years, the Advisory Council will play a pivotal role in advancing the Food Bank’s work by providing strategic guidance, fostering community relationships, and advocating for vital resources. Specifically, Advisory Committee members will: 

• Provide input on strategic initiatives and community engagement efforts. 

• Advocate for the Food Bank’s mission within their networks. 

• Represent the Food Bank at local events and help build partnerships. 

• Assist with fundraising activities and program evaluations. 

With hunger affecting every county in Wyoming, the Advisory Council will help ensure neighbors in need — including children, older adults, and residents in rural communities —  have reliable access to the nutritious and familiar food they need to thrive. 

“Our Advisory Council members are located throughout Wyoming to help us better listen and respond to the unique hunger needs in communities across the state. We believe food is the foundation — a basic human need that supports every form of progress, whether it’s mental health, education, or getting a new job. None of it can happen without consistent, nourishing meals. With this Advisory Council, we are fostering stronger relationships and building greater impact across the state,” says Food Bank of Wyoming Executive Director Danica Sveda.
