First free community clothing drive a success

Jillian Lorash reported about 100 people attended her first free community clothing drive at Los Gabanes Event Center in Greybull this weekend. Lorash spearheaded the effort to collect and give away clothes to whoever needed or wanted them, inspired by a church clothing drive she had attended in Montana.

“I think it is pretty evident that it’s a need when I ran out of all of the winter coats and snow pants I had,” Lorash said. With thrift stores only open during business hours and still charging for items, there are still barriers to people finding the clothes they need at an affordable price. At Saturday’s drive, Lorash ran out of snow gear, kids clothes and men’s pants. She’s still swamped with women’s clothes and will not need those donations for a future drive.

Lorash thanked the Garay family for donating the space for the entire week as they set up the drive.

“I really am grateful for them and their generosity,” Lorash said. “It was great and I would love to do it again.”
