Drawing held as part of Goton fundraiser
A drawing was held Friday, Feb. 27 at Big Horn Federal to award an oil painting donated by Benjaporn Helburn of Shell-Greybull to raise money to help offset the expenses and medical costs for Hazel Goton. The daughter of Hayden and Davonne Goton, she was born with without a functioning portal vein that is necessary to carry blood to her liver.
Helburn painted the picture from a photo she took of one of the Wright twins on a saddle bronc at one of Wilford Brimley’s rodeos
Hazel drew the winning ticket. The winner wished to remain anonymous, saying Hazel had so admired the horse in the painting he insisted she be given the painting so she could remember all the kind people who helped her in her time of need.
The raffle raised $2,375 dollars, which was given to the Goton family just in time to travel to Denver this last weekend for Hazel’s second surgery.
