Cowley man charged with three felonies stemming from September incident
A 50-year-old Cowley man is facing three felony charges stemming from a fight with his live-in companion that occurred Sept. 11, 2025.
Conrad Nagel Richardson Reddin entered not guilty pleas Tuesday in the Big Horn County District Court to strangulation of a household member, aggravated assault and battery and possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful intent, as well as misdemeanor domestic battery.
The first two charges each carry maximum sentences of up to 10 years of imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine; the maximums on the possession of a deadly weapon charge is five years and/or up to $5,000 in fines.
Reddin is currently being held in the Big Horn County Jail, with bail being set at $75,000.
The affidavit of probable cause, written by Jeffrey J. Angell of the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office, alleges that Reddin became angry with his girlfriend, age 57, when she asked him to sleep on the couch.
The victim told investigators he entered her bedroom, held her down by her arms and placed his hands around her throat, squeezing and applying pressure for approximately 30 seconds.
Officers observed red marks on the victim’s body consistent with her account. They also noted that she was coughing and had a raspy voice.
The victim was transported to the hospital, where she underwent a CT scan on her throat. She was “shaking and scared,” observed another deputy. According to the affidavit, the victim “felt she could not leave the house ... because she was afraid (Reddin) would kill her.”
She told investigators that Reddin had held a .357 revolver to her head with the hammer locked the night before, telling her she “got to see her son,” who was deceased.
Upon her release from the hospital, the victim took investigators to her home, where they seized the .357 revolver that Reddin kept under his side of the bed. The gun was loaded with five rounds, but had one empty chamber.
Officers who approached Reddin afterward noticed scratches on his chest. When asked how they got there, all he would tell them, according to the affidavit, was he got into “a little altercation” with the victim.
