Burlington’s Speech and Debate team competed in Worland over the weekend at the Worlando Beach Tournament. “This was our best Speech meet yet,” said Coach Scott McBride. “Everyone who attended broke or in other words made it to finals. We have a very focused team that works very hard during the week. Their hard work is showing great results.”

The team once again took the 1A/2A sweepstakes. Raygen Andrew placed first in Informative, Jessi Mendez placed fourth in Oratory, Kitzen Schatz placed fifth in Congress, Orabella Heaten placed sixth in Poetry and Sky Olsen placed sixth in Oratory.

“I also want to give a big shoutout to Miss St. Clair, our assistant speech coach. She has done a tremendous job working individually with each team member, helping with the refinement or their piece and ‘blocking’ or movements. She is an excellent coach and we would not be where we are without her,” said McBride.

The team will stay local this weekend, competing at the Jurassic Classic in Basin on Saturday.
