BHC Dems accept write-ins

Byrd, Kinney to visit Greybull Saturday 

A red county in a red state, only 3.9% of ballots cast in the Big Horn County primary were from the Democratic party. Local candidates were sparse, leaving a lot of room for write-ins. Nominees who received the most write-in votes for committeeman and committeewoman, with a minimum of three votes, were solicited, all accepted. 

No Big Horn County Democrat committee people were on the ballot for Greybull. Qualifying write-in for committeewoman was Lynette Murray (7 votes). Ralph Nieder Westermann was written in for committeeman with five votes.

In Shell, Mart Hinckley was elected as committeeman with 11 votes. Write-in for committeewoman was Jade Smith with three votes. 

For Basin, incumbent Chair Erik Good was elected committeeman with 18 votes. Darla Haller took the write-in committeewoman position with three votes. 

Emblem wrote in Wyatt Kruse (3 votes) and Karisa Kruse (3 votes). 

Lovell elected committeeman David James with 23 votes. 

No write-ins qualified for Manderson, or for Lovell committeewoman. No candidates or write-ins were received for Cowley, Burlington, Otto, Hyattville, Byron, Deaver or Frannie.

CANDIDATE VISIT

Candidates James Byrd for US Senate and Lisa Kinney for US House will be at Los Gabanes Events Center in Greybull Saturday, Sept. 26 from noon to 2 p.m., sponsored by the Big Horn County Democrats. Refreshments will be provided, everyone is welcome to attend.
