Basin Heritage Commons receives donation from Big Horn REA

The Basin Heritage Commons received a $10,000 check from Big Horn REA to help with the project. REA General Manager Jeff Pillow explained these types of donations are possible because of Big Horn’s unclaimed capital credit procedures. 

Danae Bales, president of the Basin Heritage Initiative, said the donation will go a long way toward the completion of the commons area. “Basin Heritage Commons is being built on an empty lot donated by SBHC Water District to Basin Heritage Initiative for use of the creating a beautiful space for the whole community to celebrate our history, heritage and the people and businesses that make Basin a wonderful place to live.” 

Bales noted that the project has advanced recently thanks to help from the town, the Water District, U Rock Concrete and J&E Irrigation. Kirby with J&E lent a hand, or a forklift rather, to help unload 8,000 pounds of bricks for Basin Heritage Commons. 

SBHC Water District Manager and Vice President of Basin Heritage Initiative John Joyce and his son Jeff Joyce were busy working on preparing the ground to lay the bricks in time for Santa to make his appearance under the gazebo during the Home for the Holidays celebration Nov 29.  Doug Zierolf of U Rock Concrete & Materials LLC cleared and prepared the space with his excavator prior to John Joyce spreading out the sand.
