Artists sought for Super Soup Supper
The art department at Riverside Middle High School, with its art club, is once again hosting a Super Soup Supper. The deadline to submit art for display is now Feb. 11-20
Funds raised will go toward the local Totes for Hope and in the development of a green space within the school.
Art teacher Dineen Mueller addressing artists said, “We would like to display several of your works. We are suggesting two or more pieces reflective of your emphasis and/ or particular interests. As representative of our community’s hidden talents and those products that uniquely reflect our local artistic culture and community.
“We would like to receive those pieces the week of Feb. 11, so as to inventory, label them, and set up the displays in small groupings of similar or in unique settings one may need or want to adequately represent your efforts.”
Mueller added “We have tried to be eclectic to include fiber arts, woodworking, leather work, printmaking, painting and photography. We have limited display support, such as easels and/or tables, but feel we can try to expose existing and developing talents within our area.”
The art show will be on display Feb. 18-March 7, 2025, to kick off “Youth Art Month” in March. This event is funded through student effort; there are no grants attached. The display area is the commons of the Riverside Middle High School and is an open setting with security cameras in a public setting. The art club cannot be liable for damages to works.
Mueller expounded, “By sending a brief description of the work(s), your choice of materials and means of creating the finished project identification is made much easier should inquiries be made. Please label and provide us with an artist’s statement or personal comment about your thoughts, processes and efforts that have brought you to this study, effort and achievement.”
She also said artists are encouraged to include a “business” card or other for potential buyers interested in purchasing their works at a later date.
The art club is not asking you to donate your pieces but instead is asking artists to participate in the Empty Bowls event (Super Soup Supper) and bring family and friends to enjoy this opportunity within the arts.
If someone you know is willing to play and or perform on stage or other, please let the art club know so that they may be included as local talent.
There will be fewer student-made clay bowls available for purchase as part of the Empty Bowls fundraiser of the Super Soup Supper.
The Super Soup Supper is the evening of March 7, 2025.
