Artists and their work sparkled at Art Gala
The Big Horn County Art Guild’s Art Gala Saturday night was full of sparkles. Some from the décor, some from the attire and much from the art itself. It was the third gala sponsored by the Guild.
The art ranged from pottery to a stuffed jackalope including jewelry, photography, paintings, etchings, 3D print, and painted/decorated animal skulls.
Art Guild President Rebecca Kinane said, “I think we had a great turnout. Loving the support from the community. It was a great chance to showcase everyone’s talent. There is no shortage of talent with these artists.”
Kinane said for next year’s gala they hope to expand the diversity of the art to include fabric pieces, carvings, etc. They want to showcase every type of artist. She also hopes to line up musical artists to perform during the event to showcase their talents.
Tera Sanchez has participated in all three galas with her photography.
“This year Julie Werbelow saved my bacon because my computer crashed,” Sanchez said. “She took me up to her place. I took pictures of her horses and her donkey. One of her cats came up and we got some great pictures of the cat and a horse.”
Attendee Gina Anderson said the event was awesome. Sandy Hunt, a first-time attendee, agreed.
Artist Ann Hanson was there to support all the other artists. She called it an “awesome” event, adding that she was glad to see so many people come out for it.
In addition to art and socializing, attendees enjoyed the graze table catered by Chef Victoria Gardner.
The artist’s reveal portion, emceed by Mike Laird, was a crowd pleaser with plenty of oohs and ahhs when the art was uncovered by the artists. Each of those items were for sale.
Bonnie Kowalczyk, a member of the Guild’s board, thanked the artists and everyone who attended.
The guild is already planning an outdoor art festival for Days of ’49.
