Alleged meth dealer recently arraigned

A 29-year-old man is facing three charges, including felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, that stem from a drug buy he was planning at the Greybull Rest Area.

Steven Hill was arrested Sunday, July 27 after the vehicle he was driving was stopped on U.S. Highway 16-20 by the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

Trooper Crosby Ralston said in the affidavit of probable cause that he’d received a tip from an undercover agent with the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, asking him to be on the lookout for a yellow Chevrolet last seen leaving a Greybull motel.  Hill had allegedly sent pictures to the DCI agent showing the methamphetamine he intended to deliver to him at the rest area.

After the stop, Hill admitted that his vehicle had been used by people for selling drugs, and that inside it, there was both marijuana and steroids.

A search turned up multiple small, plastic baggies containing a white crystalline substance, believed to be methamphetamine, along with multiple used and unused needles and marijuana joints.

After his arrest, Hill provided information about a 40-year-old woman who was selling and had methamphetamine on her.  He consented to calling the woman and arranging to buy methamphetamine from her.  The buy was set up to take place at the Greybull City Park, near the restrooms, where she was arrested and charged with distributing methamphetamine in a school zone.

The felony possession with intent to deliver charge is the most serious, carrying a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $25,000.

Hill was also charged with a pair of misdemeanors, one alleging possession of marijuana, the other alleging possession of methamphetamine.

Through his attorney, Hill pled not guilty to all three charges.

Attorneys agreed that four days would be sufficient if the case goes to trial.
