Still saying Carlene & Colin’s names
Sometimes the best way to keep the memory of someone is to say their names. It doesn’t matter if it is whispered, shouted, thought or written. Saying their name, keeps them in your heart.
Two years ago this month, Carlene and Colin were murdered in a domestic violence situation. Carlene was pregnant with Colin at the time of their deaths.
The second Remembering Carlene and Colin barbecue is Aug. 17, 2 p.m., at Manderson Town Hall.
Domestic violence knows no boundaries. It is not one sex, one age, one race or one economic status. The only thing victims have 100% in common is that help is available. There are people who will move heaven and earth to get a person out.
There is no excuse for the abuse. If you are told that you deserve it, that it is your fault, you are not good enough, etc., those are all lies. If a person truly loves you, they don’t abuse you.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 800-799-7233 or text START to 88788 or chat online at www.thehotline.org. Locally you can call law enforcement and CARES, 307-568-3334.
