Riverside Lady Rebels have a close match against Dubois
The Riverside Lady Rebels had some extremely close sets this past Friday in a conference match with the Dubois Lady Rams.
They played four sets and fell the Rams, losing the first set 25-23 and winning the second one 25-23 before dropping the final two by scores of 25-16 and 25-21.
The Rebels were serving at an 85% success rate, with 39 kills and 68 digs. Brooklynn Paxton led the stats in kills and digs with 24 and 26 respectively. Johnna Clifford had 8 kills and 13 digs, while Varissa Olsen got 5 kills and 11 digs.
Coach Cindi Smith commented, “The team is learning and showing growth. There Is a mix of experience and newcomers on the court taking on various roles. We progressed in our serving from a week ago. The girls are continuing to find a balance of consistency and aggressiveness.
“It is essential for us to build on our serve receive and defensive skills. Communication on the court Is another focus area.”
The Lady Rebels will travel to Yoder Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13 for the Southeast 1A Jamboree.
