Rebels small in numbers, big in performance

The Riverside Rebels track team competed at the Lovell Invite on Saturday, May 2. They were small in numbers due to school trips and illness, but nevertheless they continue to pull out personal bests in marks or time.

Top performances of the day start with the girls’ sprint medley relay team consisting

of Brinley Longshore, Melanie Perez-Cabrera, Evalynn Olsen, and Mari Pratt. They got third place in their race with a time of 5:13.50. 

Cade Bell led the boys throws with a 6th place finish in the shot put (42-10.75), while  Xander Dannar placed 8th in the triple jump (34-8). Danner continuing to show his versatility across  both running and field events. 

Hannah Suiter added a strong performance in the 800 meters, placing 6th (2:39.71). Mari Pratt rounded out top finishes with a 10th place finish in the 200 meters (29.06).

Overall, the team continues to show improvement and compete well individually despite a limited roster at this meet. 

Moving into the final few weeks, the Rebel track team will be in Thermopolis on Friday,  followed by Regionals in Shoshoni Friday and Saturday of next week, and state track in Casper  the week of May 21-23.

Discus: Hadley Hopkin: 15th (83.6) Perez-Cabrera: 27th (60-5), E. Olsen: 35th (50-5.5)

Shot put: Hopkin: 16th (27-6.75)

BOYS:

800m: Xander Dannar: 13th (2:24.27), Ariel Cordova: 14th (2:30.49)

Long Jump: Dannar: 12th (17-8.25)

Triple Jump: Dannar: 8th (34-8)

Discus: Cade Bell: 13th (116-7), Elias Jensen: 14th (113-11)

Shot Put: Bell: 6th (42-10.75)
