October 15, 1925
Mr. Thos. M. Hyde, who has had charge of the matter of handling transfer to the state of the Broadmoor tract, on which the State Tuberculosis Sanatorium is to be built, on Tuesday received from the state treasurer a draft for $5,396.80, which transaction completes the deal by which the state takes of the site.
Superintendent Sam V. Long of the Manderson schools and Mr. W.S. Hunter, principal, were down on Saturday last to arrange for the publication of a paper for the Manderson schools. They arranged for the work to be done by The Rustler. The first issue will appear about the 17th of October and succeeding issues on the 15th of the month.

October 12, 1950
Following plans made at a meeting of the Basin Volunteer Fire Department Monday evening and in cooperation with Superintendent Robert Kilzer and school authorities, a practice drill was staged at the Basin public schools Tuesday. The exercise was designed to rehearse students in the course to be followed in the event of fire. The elementary school building was evacuated with perfect order in 50 seconds. Three minutes were required to evacuate the high school building.
At a recent meeting of the Otto Country Club held at Bertha Williams’ home, the annual election of officers resulted in the election of Mrs. Carl Ackerman as president, Silvia Sawyer, vice president and Evelyn Sparks as secretary.
A large number attended the party last Monday night, given in honor of Paul Russell, who has to leave soon for the army. The men finished plastering the basement Monday and we will finish the painting as soon as possible.

October 16, 1975
Big Horn County Sheriff George Warfel returned Saturday from Spokane, Wash., bringing with him William Wayne Hume, Jr., and a juvenile. The two broke out of the county jail a week earlier, burglarized a local store, took a car and fled.
Basin residents will find their costs for electrical power and lighting substantially increased when they receive municipal utility bills about the first of November. New rates were established Monday night. The council is obliged to consider new rates when the federal power authority granted Pacific Power & Light an increase effective this month.
The Basin Bobcats last Friday clinched at least a tie for the conference championship in high school football and moved into a tie for the top ranking among class BC teams in the state, sharing that honor with Guernsey.

TCT WEST and Tri County Telephone urban customers will see their rates increase, probably as soon as next month’s billing. The Wyoming Supreme Court ruled that the method used by the two telephone companies to establish its current rates was not a proper interpretation of Wyoming law.
Kristi Bonnel, daughter of Jim and Lila Bonnel of Riverton, and Bill Phillips, son of Larry and Edie Phillips of Carrollton, Ill., will exchange wedding vows in Basin Oct 21.
