The Burlington Huskies traveled to Hulett on Saturday for a blowout of a game that ended with a final score of 77-0.

“Hulett had some of their starters leave the game early in the first quarter,” said Coach Trent Aagard. “In small schools when you lose one or two of your good players things can go sideways really fast. Unfortunately that was what happened to Hulett, so for us, our younger players played over half the game. We did see some growth from our older guys this week and I thought most everyone who played added some good things.”

Burlington had a solid game on offense, with 10 different players scoring touchdowns and Jordan Broederlow scoring two. They finished with 365 total yards, 265 of those being rushing yards. “On offense, Joe Bassett, Jordan Broederlow, Jordan Casey, Rykael Andrew and Kyler Winters did some good with the time they had. On defense, I thought our pass rushers (Rykael, Will Aagard, Brikton Wardell and Taft Winters) got better as the game went on. They improved on some things we have been trying to work on in practice. I thought our secondary (Joe, Weston Gotfredson, Jordan B, Jordan C and Kyler) was physical and reacted well to the ball.

“When our young guys got in, they were able to have a lot of success, also. They played hard and put some points on the board and kept Hulett out of the end zone. It was a good learning opportunity for them.”

With just three varsity games left in the regular season, Aagard is seeing some positive things from his team. “I feel like we are doing a good job of coming together as a team. We are playing better as a team right now and that is something we need to continue to improve on. We are doing a good job of distributing the ball among our players.”

Burlington will face Meeteetse in their homecoming game Friday, with a middle school game at noon and the varsity kickoff at 2 p.m.
