Free stage equals free fun, music at fair

The fair’s free stage will be a showcase of Big Horn County talent, with performances starting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 30 through Saturday, Aug. 2.

Wyoming State Parks Ranger Katie take the stage Wednesday. Attendees will learn fun facts about state parks and the programs offered in them.

  First up Thursday-Saturday is Josiah Skillman of Greybull. Skillman writes much of the music he performs. His free stage performance will feature originals and cover songs. He describes his music as American folk, bluegrass and a bit of rock.   

The Wyoming Mermaid Storytime is at 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Children will be reeled in by her stories of the seas and beyond. These tales will hook all who listen. The mermaid makes her land home in Basin. 

The Liam and Layne Band of Hyattville will be on the stage at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 31 and Friday, Aug. 1. The identical twin brothers’ music blends folk, rock, bluegrass and Americana. It has been described as “grungy mountain folk.”  

The Rewinders, from Lovell and Cowley, take the stage on Friday, Aug. 1 at 1 p.m. They play a mix of tunes that cover decades including the ‘60s and ‘70s.  You can expect to hear country and classic rock. 

Buck Wyold is not on the free stage but the band plays Friday, Aug. 1 after the ranch rodeo and Saturday, Aug. 2 after the circuit rodeo. The music should start at 9 p.m. both nights.  Hailing from the Big Horn Basin, the five-piece band plays a blend of country and rock.
