June 16, 1940 - Jan. 16, 2026

In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Claudia Lynn (Mace) Trumbull went to be with her Lord and Savior at Three Rivers Health on Jan. 16, 2026 at the age of 85.

She was born June 16, 1940, in Newcastle, Wyo., to M.D. (Pete) and Katherine Elizabeth Mace. During WWII, the family moved to California, where her father built airports for the Army Corps of Engineers.

After the war, they moved back to the Newcastle area. The family later moved to the Big Horn Basin between Claudia’s first and second grade year. She went to Greybull schools from second grade to graduation in 1958.

She met the love of her life in Greybull in 1956. He was delivering groceries to the back door of her parent’s home. While Sid served on a Navy ship, Claudia moved to Denver to babysit her brother’s son. Sid came home on leave to visit her and proposed marriage (again). She said yes and they married in July of 1959. The day after the wedding, Sid boarded a bus back to San Diego to rejoin the USS Ticonderoga. Claudia got on a bus to Greybull to pack her things for a move to San Diego. When their time in the Navy was done, they moved back to Greybull. Their first born was a son they named Curtis.

Sid went to Denver to attend meat-cutting school. Upon his completion of school, he came home to Greybull. He cut meat for many years in this area. Claudia worked for many years at various jobs including campground host, a grocery cashier, and running a greenhouse. In 1975 they opened T-bone Processing. After the business was sold, she worked as a flagger for many years before her final job as a driver for PTI. Her favorite place to work was as a camp host on the Big Horns as a she spent nearly 10 years taking care of the camping guests and the campgrounds.

All the while maintaining a home and handling their three children: Curtis, Deb Rives and Sherri Hazelton.

She loved reading and crocheting but most of all she loved gardening and being outside until her sight made it so she couldn’t do any of these things. Her daughter Sherri read books to her and Claudia treasured the time spent listening to the stories.

She is survived by her husband Sid, son Curtis, daughter Deb, daughter Sherri (Ed), sister-in-law Peggy Mace, sister in law Kathleen Howe (Walter), brother in law William Trumbull (Nancy), three grandsons (Shane, Alex and Brad), one granddaughter (Crystal), numerous nieces and nephews, a large number of great nieces and nephews and a great-granddaughter, Catherine Elizabeth Trumbull.

Claudia was a 50-year plus member and past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star Lewisa Chapter 16, Past Grand Representative of the Province of Saskatchewan Canada, Job’s Daughters Honored Queen and oldest surviving member of the Presbyterian Church at the time of her death.
