The end of ‘Bean’ week

First, a short update on the crazy bean saga. I had thought I was planning to can roughly 40 pints of pork and beans, but the final total came to 60 pints of pork and beans, and 10 pints and 12 half-pints of ham and bean soup. So now we start on apples, juice, sauce and jelly.

The Lovell and Basin Area chambers along with the town of Greybull did an advertisement with a magazine to promote Big Horn County. In addition to the ad, they did an interview which will be in the magazine but is also available online. Still saying Carlene & Colin’s names

Sometimes the best way to keep the memory of someone is to say their names.  It doesn’t matter if it is whispered, shouted, thought or written. Saying their name, keeps them in your heart.
Two years ago this month, Carlene and Colin were murdered in a domestic violence situation. Carlene was pregnant with Colin at the time of their deaths.
The second Remembering Carlene and Colin barbecue is Aug. 17, 2 p.m., at Manderson Town Hall.

I should have known better, I am not sure what I was thinking.
Rick likes pork and beans. He likes them so much he eats about a pint a week, so rather than buying them from the store pre-made, I just buy the beans and can them myself. He reminded me a couple of days ago that he only had three jars left, so I decided I better get busy.

Beware out-of-state influence in our elections

Dear Editor:
As we head to the polls next week to cast our vote, it is important that we know who our candidates are and have done our own research on voting records, endorsements and current issues.
We have had aspiring politicians move into our communities from out of state and run for state office shortly after getting established in our community. Why did they choose our community, and what are their motives?
