Rebels own the Lady Blue in three-set homecoming victory

The Lady Rebels had the Homecoming script written and performed it perfectly Friday as they scored a three-set victory over Shoshoni, 25-22, 25-21, 27-25.

The Lady Blue put up a fight but Riverside was not to be denied the win on their home court before hometown fans.

The senior members of the squad were honored for their dedication and  support of the team. Honored were Shelby Chrissman, Eva Taylor, Breana Riley and Monique Velasquez.

It was a true team effort with good stats down the line.

Due to Monday meetings, Coach Cindi Smith could not be reached for comments.

Team/individual stats:

Serving — 88 percent, 14 aces; Vaidyn VanderPloeg, 100%, 5 aces; Victory Buck 100% 3 aces; Caroline Schlattmann 92% 5 aces.

Kills — 31 (Schlattmann 11, VanderPloeg 8 (.304%); Buck 8 (.263%))

Assists —  30 (Breana Riley 15, Hailee McClure 12)

Digs — VanderPloeg 16, Buck 10, Riley 10.

BLOCKS — 3 solo, 4 assists – Schlattmann 2 solo; VanderPloeg 2 assists; McClure 2 assists. 

The action is all in Basin this weekend as the Rebels host the Riverside Duals. Matches will be played in both the old gym and the new gym starting at 9 a.m. Fridays field includes Riverside, Meeteetse, Shoshoni and Rocky Mountain.  Saturday’s action includes Riverside, Wind River, Greybull and Big Piney. 

Junior varsity matches will be played immediately before the varsity matches.

Friday the Rebels face Meeteetse at 11 a.m. Rocky Mountain at 2:30 p.m.; and Shoshoni at 6 p.m.; all will be in the new gym. 

Saturday Riverside will face Wind River at 9 a.m., Greybull at 12:30 p.m. and Big Piney at 4 p.m., all in the new gym.

The duals will give the Rebels a look at all three teams from the Southwest – Big Piney, Wind River and Shoshoni.
