Floyd Kitchel Smith Jr., was born on Dec. 8, 1942, in Greybull, Wyo.  He was the son of Floyd K. “Cub” and Marjorie Heim Smith of Shell. Known to his family and friends as “Kit,” he grew up on his family's ranches on Horse Creek and Trapper Creek.

Kit attended elementary school at the Historic Red Shell School House in Shell and graduated from Greybull High School.

Kit remained on the family ranch, where he built his own herd of registered Galloway cattle. He earned many awards for his quality stock.

Kit was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and guiding for many out-of-state hunters.

Kit was initiated into Masonic Lodge #34 in Greybull, Wyo., on April 8, 1968. He progressed through the Masonic levels quickly, and in 2018 was honored by his brother Masons for 50 years of membership in the Lodge.

Kit was also a member of Royal Arch Masons of Wyoming, attending the Cody chapter.

In 2015, he moved to Bonnie Bluejacket Memorial Nursing Home between Greybull and Basin, where he resided until his death on April 1, 2022.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his brother, Gilbert.

He is survived by his brother, John Smith of Cody; sister-in-law, Jade Smith of Shell; nephews Christopher of Eugene, Ore., Adam (Khadjar) of Shell; niece, Tajia, and nephew, CJ Smith of Veneta, Ore.; cousins Ed (Fay) Smith and Morris Smith of Shell, Carolyn Wertman of Yuma, Ariz., and Marilyn Fredricks of Boise, Idaho.
