Hyattville Old Timer’s Day Saturday

By BRENDA TENBOER

Vendors still have time to get a booth for the Old Timer’s Day Street Fair on Saturday in Hyattville.

Dee Dryer of the Hyattville Old Timer’s Association said plenty of spots are still available for crafters and merchants who want to display their wares.

“We would love to have more vendors,” Dryer said. “It gives people something to do before or after the picnic.”

Last year, the event was held at Medicine Lodge State Archaeological Site but that has changed.

The 101st annual Hyattville Old Timer’s Day events all take place this year on July 31 at the Hyattville Community Center. The theme for this year’s event is “The Next 100 Years,” according to coordinator Peg Johnson.

“They can set up at 11 a.m. and tear down whenever they want to, more booths are definitely welcome,” she said.

Vendors should bring display equipment, including necessary tables, stands, chairs, etc., and shade.  Electricity is not available.

Vendors already registered include quilters, soap makers and jewelry designers.

Registration is $5 a space and pre-registration is recommended by calling Dryer at 307-469-2292.

The picnic is scheduled to begin at noon with food served at 1 p.m. at the community center.

Pork and beef are donated for the picnic by Paintrock Angus Ranch, Paintrock Hereford Ranch and Paintrock Processing and there is no charge for the event.

People are asked to bring their own place setting and a salad, rolls or dessert  to share if they wish.

Lunch will be served in the community center but those wishing to sit outside and eat should plan to bring their own lawn chairs.

A short program honoring the newly crowned King and Queen will immediately follow lunch.

Some activities for children are planned for the afternoon, but details were not available at press time. The 4-H Paintrock Punchers group will open a hamburger stand in the evening, according to Julie Greer.

A dance will begin at 7 p.m. on the apron of the bus barn with entertainment provided by The Rewinders of Cowley.

Contact Johnson at 469-2344 for more information.
