Riverside arrived in Meeteetse Friday with the weather windy and cold. After one event, the rain began pouring down and the meet was cancelled so Coach Steve Olson scrambled to make sure several of his athletes could compete in Lovell on Saturday.
The weather was better and Olson was pleased with the performances of those who competed. He said Josie Taylor had a season best throw in the discus, adding 10 feet to her previous best to throw 60-9. Ashley Earl threw 37-11. In the shot put, Taylor threw 23-10 to place eighth and Earl threw 13-8.
The Lovell meet was the first time Joe Hoffman got to try the pole vault but was unable to make opening height.
No Rebels placed at the meet. Olson was pleased to see Zach Christopherson clear opening height for the second straight meet in the high jump at 4-8.
Other results are as follows:
100-meter dash: Hoffman, 12.74; Christopherson, 12.87; Jeff Ingleheart, 13.55 and Frankie Getzfreid, 14.18.
200: Christopherson, 27.05; Ingleheart, 27.83; F. Getzfreid, 30.84; and Andrew Williamson, 38.77.
400: Ingleheart, 60.11; Christopher Nichols, 60.14.
Olson said after Nichols ran the 400, he ran the 800 with a time of 2:43.24. Olson said the time was slower than normal because Nichols was pretty well out of energy by the end of the race.
Shot put: Ingleheart, 28-2. This was Ingleheart’s first time competing in the shot put.
Triple jump: Christopherson, 29-5.
The team heads to Thermopolis for the next two Fridays as they head into the final stretch of the regular season. Olson said Kinli Vigil is fighting shin splints, which has limited her to not competing in the triple jump this season and hampers her in the hurdles. Both meets begin at 1 p.m.
