Harp announces commission candidacy
Basin resident Linda Harp announced this week that she plans to file for one of the two four-year Big Horn County Commission seats when filing begins in May.
Harp said, “I’m running because I’ve learned a lot the last few years about county government and I think I can help with the process. I plan to be a candidate that looks at the big picture.”
One advantage that Harp would bring, she said, is having worked with the current commissioners and past commissioners. She said she has had a good working relationship with those who have sat on the commission.
“I understanding how county government works and the importance of working together. I’m excited to run,” she said.
She will be filing for the Republican nomination.
Harp said LPH Consulting, which contracts with the county for grant services, is in transition while the family business moves to another family member. Harp said this will ensure that there is no conflict of interest while she runs for office and after the election.
Keith Grant and Scotty Hinman currently hold the two commission seats up for election this year. Grant has stated he will seek re-election. Hinman said earlier that he was leaning toward seeking a second term.
