Zoning part of planning for the future

To zone or not to zone appears to be the question of the day.

It was exciting to learn that so many people attended Tuesday night’s Land Planning public hearing on the Land Plan for the county. It’s unfortunate, however, that many of those people waited until near the end of the process to become involved, and many are apparently still uninformed.

Lady Rebels whip Greybull;

boost conference record to 2-1

 

After a first set 13-25 drubbing at the hands of rival Greybull Sept. 10, the Riverside Lady Rebels took the home court much more relaxed and played steady ball in the next three sets to beat the Lady Buffs, 25-18, 25-22, 25-16. The victory over their arch rivals left Riverside with a 2-1 conference record, and dropped the Lady Buffs to 0-2.

Bike run raises $1,700 to benefit area children

The first America Christmas for Kids Bike Run, sponsored by a small group of motorcycle riders from Thermopolis, raised $1,700 that will be distributed to families in Basin and Thermopolis for Christmas.

Vorhies gets nearly one year for past poaching incidents

After changing his plea to three counts of Game and Fish violations and entering a guilty plea on a fourth count, former Greybull resident Gary Vorhies, 47, was sentenced to four years in the Big Horn County Jail with just over three years suspended.

Lady Rebels 1-1 in conference; host Greybull tonight

It was a good weekend for the Riverside volleyball team as they went 1-1 in conference matches. They lost to a strong Lovell team at home Thursday, 24-26, 7-25, 18-25, then managed to out-play the Lady Grizz in Byron Friday in four sets, 25-17, 25-20, 19-25, 26-24. Coach Lindsay Shaffner has to be pleased with her young, inexperienced squad.

Ivan Leroy Foster

Dec. 25, 1930 – Sept. 4, 2009

 

Ivan Leroy Foster, age 78, returned to his Heavenly Father on September 4, 2009. He was born December 25, 1930, in Mason City, Nebraska, to Selma Hauck and Charles Samuel Foster. He had three sisters, who have preceded him in death, Berniece Leininger, Louise Foster and Phyllis Wilson.

School board says ‘no’ to SRO due to financial concerns
