Burlington thinclads bring home twin crowns

Public invited to ask questions, comment on solid waste process

Big Horn Basin residents are invited to attend an open house to see first hand how landfill needs may be met as far in the future as 20 years from now.
“It’s an opportunity for us to tell the public what has been going on for the past two years, tell them the alternatives we’ve looked at and what might be happening with solid waste in this area,” said Inberg-Miller engineer Howard Johnson.

Graduation advice not always logical

Huskies have 35 state qualifiers; head to regionals Friday

Going into the 1A West Regional Track meet this weekend the Burlington Lady Huskies already have 17 automatic state qualifiers covering 11 track and field events and the Husky boys have 18 qualifiers covering 10 events — and the total of 21 events does not include the AQ relay teams. So what more could Coach Albert Henderson and his athletes want? Well, more state qualifiers. Henderson said they had a few athletes who could qualify by finishing in the top eight in individual events, and in the top four relays at regionals.

Single point of entry aims to help juveniles sooner

The old adage, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ never held more true than during a presentation in Greybull on Monday morning. Raising a child is a tough job, helping an at-risk kid make good choices is even tougher, but with a well-coordinated support system it is possible, according to former District Judge turned Governor’s Juvenile Justice Policy Analyst Gary P. Hartman.

All arrests will be published

Per a new policy adopted by the Basin Republican Rustler, names of persons 18 or older who are arrested will now appear in the sheriff’s report and police report. This newspaper feels it is important to strive for fairness, consistency and accuracy, which is why we feel it is prudent to publish all arrests, regardless of the person’s age or the charge. We will report any dismissals.
We feel it’s important for our citizens to know what our law enforcement is doing, as well what the citizenry is doing.

Regular season ends at Thermopolis

Riverside Lady Rebels Ashley Vigil and Chelsea Longshore represented their school well at last Friday’s Wyoming Track Classic in Casper.
Coach Steve Olson reported that Vigil finished third among the competition of the best in the state, with a season-best time of 1:01.92. Longshore was eighth in the 200 at 28.36.
