Smokehouse lawsuit dismissed

Valuation drops 27 percent

After taking a sizeable jump in valuation last year by more than $60 million, Big Horn County saw a much larger decrease for the 2010 valuation.
Big Horn County Assessor Gina Anderson announced last week that the county’s total valuation for the year is $225,837,257, down from last year’s record $307,752,824, which is a drop of $81.9 million or 27 percent. The last time the valuation was around $225 million was in 2007 when valuation was at $224 million.

Lack of providers among issues for parents

With more than 40 bills on General File Monday, Sen. Gerald Geis (R-Worland) said that some bills likely would die and not pass this session.
Monday was the deadline for bills to pass the Committee of the Whole (first reading) He said there would be no way the Senate could get through all 40 bills. “There’s none I would have a heartburn over (if they did not pass). The state will run just fine without them,” Geis said.

Rebels season ends as Riverside falls in play-in game

The season for the Riverside Rebels ended Thursday just as it had started, with a loss to the Big Piney Punchers. Riverside opened the season with a loss to Big Piney at home as part of the Big Horn Basin Shootout, 61-31. On Thursday, in the play-in game for the 2A West Regional Tournament in Riverton, Riverside fell, 57-33.

A memorial service for Maxine Meyer of Basin will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, March 14, at the Assembly of God Church in Lovell. Maxine, 64, died Feb. 21 at her home in Basin.

Cremation has taken place and private family services for former Greybull resident, Dwight Evans House, will be held at a later date. Dwight, 72, also a former resident of Wasilla, Alaska, died Feb. 22, at the Rooks County Health Center in Plainville, Kan.

Memorial services for Dale Edward Chapman of Basin were held March 2 at the Grace Fellowship Church in Greybull. Dale, 63 died Feb. 25 at South Big Horn County Hospital.
