Basin’s Class of 1968 enjoys recent reunion

It was Basin Bobcat fever this past weekend in Basin as the Class of 1968 came to celebrate 50 years after graduating.

The classmates met Friday night, Aug. 3, at the Renee and Kevin Lewis’ Rock House on Orchard Bench Road. Thirty-three people, including spouses, roasted hot dogs and talked about the good old days.

On Saturday, Aug. 4, the group met at the fairgrounds to enjoy a free breakfast before hightailing it to Val Roady’s house to get on the float for the Big Horn County Fair parade. Roy and Jean Marcus put together the float for the graduates to ride on. They then went to Washington Park for a picnic.

That evening they went to dinner at the Copper Corner Café, which included entertainment by the “Off Notes” and the Riverside High School band. The “Notes” sang and redid skits they had done their freshman year. The Riverside High School band, led by band teacher Drew Davis, played the school’s fight song for the group.

Sunday morning, the majority of the group met at the Black Mountain Grill for breakfast and a last chance to visit.

In addition to the graduates and spouses, former teachers Becky Allred and Pat Brown were able to join the reunion.
