A Lovell man will spend three-to-five years in prison after being charged and convicted for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Appearing in Fifth Wyoming Judicial District Court in Basin last August, Ryan Moody, 27, was sentenced for one count of felony child abuse. He was initially charged with two counts of second degree sexual abuse of a minor, also a felony, but attorneys involved in the case reached a plea agreement and amended the charges.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the conviction stems from events that occurred during November 2015. Police learned of the incident after the victim contacted a Wyoming Department of Family Services caseworker on Jan. 18, 2016. The caseworker subsequently notified law enforcement.
The affidavit states that the victim and her friend sneaked out of a residence before arriving at Moody’s home. While there, Moody gave the victim marijuana, which she smoked before becoming “very high.”
After giving her the drugs, Moody had sexual intercourse with the girl who then left the residence.
In addition to the prison sentence, Moody was ordered to pay court costs.
