Changes to report cards proposed

Laura Irwin Elementary School Principal Jared Moretti told the Big Horn County School District No. 4 board at the regular meeting Tuesday that the school is seeking to make modifications to their current report cards.

He said they are making updates to help better match the common core standards and help the parents better understand the information.

Moretti added they will be holding an open house for the parents to hear their concerns or opinions regarding the new report cards on Monday, Dec. 3.

Moretti said the goal is to have the new report cards in place by the end of the second quarter.

Transportation Director Doug Zeirolf said they will be selling two 24-passenger school buses by sealed bid. He said the two buses are being moved to make room for the new buses. He said these two buses have around 65,000 to 85,000 miles on them and they are not really needed with the number of students. He added if they are sold the district will avoid the maintenance of the buses.

Zeirolf said the state will give us “IOUs” for these two buses. If the district needs a bus, the district can cash in on these “IOUs” and avoid a lot of the regular process.

In other business at Tuesday’s noon meeting:

•The district will be holding a special board meeting on Tuesday, December 4 at noon at the district office for the audit report.

•Re-elected board members, Misty VanderPloeg, Mike Dellos, Greg Gloy and Kimberly Koch were officially sworn in as board members.
