PHILLIP DELLOS

February 1, 1926 – September 23, 2011

GREYBULL, WY……..Long time Big Horn Basin area resident, Phil Dellos, age 85, was scheduled to take the Honor Flight Wyoming to Washington, D.C. on October 11. Instead he boarded his flight to heaven on Friday, September 23, 2011.

Phillip Dellos was born February 1, 1926 in Worland, Wyoming. He was the youngest of 12 children born to Peter and Louise (Weber) Dellos. He graduated in 1944 from Worland High School and immediately served 2 years in WWII from 1944 – 1946. He married Juanita Bell on November 2, 1952. They had 4 children: Ken, Don, Mike, and Debbie.

Phil retired from Amoco Oil Company in May 1984 after 37 years. He drove the activity bus for Basin High School for 18 years. He loved watching kids sports and joking with them on their bus trips. Phil also drove the Awanas bus for years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed working his 16-acre farm and taking care of his horses.

Phil was a 50+-year charter member of the Greybull Alliance Church.

Preceded in death are his parents, Peter and Louise; his brothers, Pete, Fred, Henry, George, John, Hank, Jake, David, and Sam; and his sisters, Mary Brown and Anna Perry.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Juanita Dellos of Greybull, Wyoming; his son, Ken, wife, Sue, of Greybull, Wyoming and family, Kristi Natzel of Billings, Montana, Kim (Bud) Pederson, Karen (Ben) Connolly, both of Gillette, Wyoming, Kelsie of Dayton, Wyoming, and Buddy of Phoenix, Arizona; his son, Don, wife, Mary, and family, Chelsea (Drew) Schofield, all of Thornton, Colorado Ryan of South Korea, and Ashleigh of Quito, Ecuador; his son, Mike, wife Pam of Basin, Wyoming, and family, Megan (Lucas) Hall of Miller, South Dakota, Chad of Tooele, Utah, and Staci of Basin, Wyoming; his daughter, Debbie, husband, Dennis Graham and family, Josh, Tyler and Rachel, all of Riverton, Wyoming; and his great-grandchildren, Allison Natzel, Maddison Natzel, Kaitlynn Natzel, all of Billings, Montana, Audrey Schofield, Asher Schofield, both of Thornton, Colorado, Finnian Pederson, Skyler Pederson, Nathanial Pederson, and Shanie Aksamit, all of Gillette, Wyoming.

A viewing will be held Thursday, September 29, 2011 at the Greybull Alliance Church in Greybull from 9:00 A.M. – 9:30 A.M. and the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. with Pastor Dave Havener officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount View Cemetery, Basin, Wyoming. A reception for family and friends will immediately follow the burial at the Elks BPOE Lodge #1431 in Greybull.

In honor of Phil, a memorial fund has been established at Bank of Greybull, 601 Greybull Avenue, Greybull, WY 82426 with proceeds to go to The Shack.

  1. I am so sorry for the loss of Phil. He was truly a gentleman, caring for all those people he met. Not only that, he was the best darn bus driver I have ever encountered!!!! His kindness made a mark for both me and my daughter and he will be missed. I am so glad that he has touched our lives as he has touched the lives of many. Rest in Peace, Phil. You deserve nothing less. God Bless the Dellos families and thank you all for sharing him.
